#citystreets Architecture and its features

One of the most remarkable optical illusions of modern times has appeared in central London: a building hovering in mid-air above Covent Garden. This installation, titled "Take my Lightning but Don't Steal my Thunder," was created by British artist Alex Chinneck. It is an exact replica of the old market entrance, built 184 years ago, with broken columns and shattered walls.

To achieve this effect, the artist spent three months creating the structure and another 500 hours painting the façade and artificially aging it. Chinneck, known for his large-scale architectural projects, is the latest artist to be honored with the installation at Covent Garden.
